Hello Rene,
I am in the process of putting together a PP presentation for my IT class at my local TAFE. It is a ‘your’ choice option and while not happy about these presentations, decided to do one about the US Civil War. I am almost finished – just the bells and whistles! I have been interested in this war for over seven years, and was envious to learn you need another bookcase to deposit your books..lucky you! I have a collection of between 40 and fifty books from trolling 2nd hand book shops, ebay and charity shops. I feel the enthusiasm that other Civil War buffs generate, however, I find that sometimes it can be difficult to form balanced and objective views when there can be so many views and opinions from Authors of different provenance. I have some very old tatty books written by historians Rene and the difference in attitude and opinions of events compared to books written later on are really telling.

I hope to follow your blogs, although I probably will not be able to read the same books, discussions on themes may be the way to go.

I live in Wollongong on the NSW East Coast of Australia (A long way from the ‘Theatre of the Civil War’) and hope to communicate via your blogs.

Regards June Hartman

Hi June.
Thank you SO much for taking the time to drop me a comment from all the way over in Wollongong! You made my day!

I’m really glad to hear about your interest in the American Civil War. I am just beginning to get a sense for the tone and agenda of different historians and writers about the war. The approach has passed through several phases over the years. It seems to swing one way and then another as revisions are made. What I find so fascinating is that even today, new information is coming to light.

May I recommend that you take a peek at my more active blog. I moved most of my military history conversations over there and there is MUCH more to read/see.

Here is the address….

I hope you’ll continue to stay plugged in. I list a number of resources on that site that you can check out and use. The list is growing quickly as I discover more and more about who is blogging, the best sites for resources etc.

Thanks again and stay in touch!

Very best regards,

Rene
